Today's Style Trend: Monochrome

Monochrome: black, white, and grey... How simple could this trend be? It has always been a huge part of fashion, but we have recently seen it coming into play more. Is this trend considered boring or is it so easy anybody could do it? In our opinion, monochrome is the epitome of an effortless look! Whatever you pair with a black, white, or grey piece instantly goes with it.

Monochrome doesn't always have to be 'boring,' though! You can add statement pieces to make it daring and add a little bit of color:

Or you can keep it simple and look chic and effortless:

This trend has been adopted into the high fashion world by brands such as Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Jason Wu, and a plethora of other amazing designers.

To achieve the effortless monochrome look doesn't cost much money. You can easily go to a thrift store and find unique pieces, or you can get pieces such as these from retail stores:

This trend is something that is easily achievable, and something everyone can easily pull off. We hope that how we style monochrome will give you inspiration on how to make this basic trend something that catches people's eyes!

Today's Style Trend: A/W Fashion

As you all know, Autumn is on the horizon! That means one thing: Closet changes! We want to update you all on what to keep an eye out for this Autumn/Winter, so you can be up to date this season.

The first trend that caught our eye was something very sultry and 1930's and 1940's esque. This trend would be no other than lingerie style clothing for evening wear! People such as Victoria Beckham and Rihanna have exemplified this look:

It's a very sexy, yet elegant way to pull off the "just rolled out of bed" look!

Another trend to look out for is plaid or tartan! The print could remind you of a typical school girl outfit, but you can make it very chic if you keep it simple!

People such as Kate Moss, Rihanna, and Emma Watson have made this look effortless!

This next trend is something nearly EVERYONE loves, and can pull off! It also isn't something very new to the fashion world. It's leather! Leather is the best way to make a very basic outfit look edgy and cool!

Nearly everyone has worn leather, but here are some of our favourite ways people have worn it:

This next trend is actually one of my favourites for the fall! It's very flattering and effortless. It's palazzo pants! Palazzo pants started making it big in the fashion world only within the past few years, but just know that it'll stick around for quite some time! Palazzo pants can be worn year round, but in the fall they can be worn with a cozy knit sweater and some heels!

This is a trend everyone should definitely attempt!

The second to last trend is a way to definitely vibe up an outfit... Animal prints!
This trend ranges from snake, cheetah, to zebra, and cow print. It is definitely a look for someone who wants to put a little edge in their look!

It's been featured by brands such as Burberry, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs.

Today's Style Trend: Cut Out Shoes

A new trend that we are all seeing this summer and coming fall is one that seems so simple, but makes a statement. Cut out shoes are taking the stage and everyone is watching. The leader of this trend is none other than the edgy, urban inspired designer Alexander Wang. His shoe collection features several new designs with what at first glance just seem like holes.

Meticulously placed, these cut outs create an unexpected twist on the classic shoe and develop a strong contrast between the shoe and the wearer’s skin tone. This creates a color blocking effect that is flattering on everyone and can be worn in many different ways.
Wang was not the only designer to take part in this up and coming trend. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and Maison Martin Margiela created cut out sneakers that are sure to make a statement. Coming in bright neon colors as well as the classic black, Marc Jacobs also added a wedge to his designs.

Retailers also took notice, and Alexander Wang’s designs have been carefully copied by brands such as Topshop and Tony Bianco at a fraction of the cost.

Retail designers, especially Topshop and Zara, took the idea into their own hands as well.

The great thing about cut out shoes is that they are so versatile and can be dressed up or down in many ways. These stylish shoes can be worn for dinner, running errands, school, or work.

Overall, cut out shoes are a great investment piece for the upcoming seasons, being shown as flats, boots, and sandals, and are now a staple wardrobe piece.

Today's Style Trend: Overalls

A trend that we are all seeing this summer and fall is not for the faint of heart. Somewhat controversial, we are seeing amazing amounts of prominent style figures wearing… wait for it: overalls. Worn by Alexa Chung, Danielle Bernstein, Miroslava Duma, and Eleanor Calder. Overalls, also called dungarees, are making a comeback. Is this old eighties trend adorable or crossing the line of costume-y farmer?

Coming in a variety of fabrics, cuts, and lengths, overalls have been seen gracing the runways of Ralph Lauren, Roberto Cavalli, Balmain, ChloƩ, 3.1 Philip Lim, Rebecca Minkoff, Altuzarra, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Though available to the few who can afford these high-end designers, brands such as Topshop, Zara, American Apparel, Free People, Urban Outfitters, and ASOS have made the new trend available to the general public in the same varieties shown on the runway, but for a fraction of the price. These brands have also translated overalls so that they can be worn by girls with different styles.

For example, if your style is more classic, Topshop’s full-length denim bleach overalls can be easily paired with a lace Peter Pan collar top, pointed toe flats, cross body satchel, bolwer hat, and Ray-Ban aviators.

But if a girl with an edgier style purchases a pair of overalls, she can get Zara’s distressed shorts pair, pairing it with cut out booties, a graphic tee, studded bag, pork pie hat, and Ray-Ban wayfarers.

Go boho with Free People’s short floral dungarees, a cream peasant blouse, heeled ankle booties, tote bag, fedora, and Ray-Ban clubmasters.

Overall, pun intended, overalls are a versatile wardrobe staple that, if worn without cowboy boots and hat, is super stylish and easy to wear throughout the year.
